Sherwood Lodge is located approximately half way between the thermal resort town of Hanmer Springs and New Zealand's whale watching mecca of Kaikoura, an easy one and a half hour's drive north of Christchurch city, in the South Island of New Zealand. Surrounded by high country sheep and cattle stations in a spectacular river valley at the base of two mountain ranges, the lodge is the perfect place from which to base yourself and explore the upper half of the South Island.

Close to the lodge, you'll find horse riding, trout and salmon fishing, farm tours, hill walking and golf. Further afield, there are the famous thermal pools, spa treatments and walks at Hanmer Springs, historic Acheron House, and the St James Walkway, while Kaikoura offers a wealth of sea based adventures, from whale watching to pelargic bird spotting, Maori tours to arts and crafts.
